I. Objectives
The presentation of Reading Reports in Research Seminar Series is one of the academic activities for graduate students. The aims are to:
· Broaden knowledge aspects;
· Promote research skills and academic level;
· Improve oral presentation skills;
· Encourage students participating in advanced research seminars or lectures;
· Facilitate learning experience for research.
II. Guidelines
1.Credit hours for Reading Reports in Research Seminar Series: (guided by the supervisor, audited by the Education Management Department):

2. Specific Requirements
a. The theme of Research Seminar Series (Reading Research Reports) should be relevant to the students’ research fields. The supervisor should guide the student for the theme.
b. Each graduate student is required to submit 4-10 written reports overall, 1-2 writing reports for each semester in principle (4 semesters/year). 1-2 reports due at submitting study plan, 2-3 reports due at submitting thesis proposal, 2-3 reports due at mid-term progress report and 2-3 reports due at thesis pre-defense. All reports should be finished half year before graduation thesis defense.
c. Written reports should follow the format for review articles with 3000-5000 words for main text, 300-500 words for abstract, and at least 20 references (70% should be published with 10 years). More please refer to the writing template in Supplemental Material I.
d. The attendance of 8 academic research seminars is recorded according to the instruction in Supplemental Material II.
III. Process of reading reports
1.Written reports should be guided by the supervisor and prepared by the student independently. It is required to present orally with PowerPoint slides during seminar (10-15 minutes) and 1-2 (according to the Guidelines) of the presentations should be selected to present in academic forum or salon by supervisor. All oral presentations should be finished half year prior to thesis defense.
2.Each graduate students should submit the written reports to supervisor according to scheduled time. The procedures are as following: checked by the supervisor, submitting electronic-version to the graduate system, approved by the supervisor, submitting signed paper-version to theEducation Management Department before graduation.
IV. Attentions
1.The graduate students should remind the supervisor to audit the writing reports after submitting in the graduate system. The Education DepartmentDepartment will approve prior to graduation thesis defenses.
2.The credit hours of Research Seminar Series (Reading Research Reports) are compulsory. Please finish it as scheduled with high-quality.
3.Thesis defense can be applied only after all the procedures are completed and approved.
The rules will be explained by the Education DepartmentDepartment and be valid from the date publicized.
