My study life

I started my study in Hangu, a town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. I have been a bright student throughout my academic career. I did my 4 years Bachelor’s and 2 years Master’s from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan. These were some of the best years of my life; I enjoyed my studies along with different activities including sports and other social activities. Pakistan is also considered as world’s geological museum as rocks in this country preserve many records of geological events. I have visited many geologically important places including Khewra (a pink-colored halite mine), Mianwali, Chitral, Gilgit, Skardu, etc. Studying rocks always fascinated me, and it was my dream to pursue my Ph.D. studies. I applied for the scholarship to support my doctoral study in one of the world’s best universities “Zhejiang University”. Fortunately, I got a scholarship and admission in Zhejiang University in September 2016. It was like a dream come true. I started my study at Ocean College, a campus of Zhejiang University in Zhoushan city.

My achievements

I won different academic awards and topped the Hangu district in 2005. I was among the top three students who were awarded 2 years (2007-08) scholarship by a multinational company (MOL-Magyar Oil Company, Hungary). Later, during my Master’s studies, I was awarded two years scholarship. In the year 2016, I successfully got CSC (Chinese Scholarship Council) for my Ph.D. studies at Zhejiang University. I was awarded an excellent international student of the Ocean College in 2018.

My campus life

The years I spent in Ocean College (China) are some of the best years of my life. Ocean College provided us a relaxed environment which is required for the studies, luxuries rooms with basic facilities such as internet and laundry. This campus has a hospital that offers services for basic medical treatments. For entertainment, it has a sports center, swimming pool and different playgrounds offering different games. I participated in different game competitions such as badminton, cricket and football. Besides, the New Year party is held at the end of every year where students perform different acts and show their skills. I also participated several times in the singing category, and my song was well appreciated. This college has provided a platform where I made friends from different countries including China, Nigeria, India, Bangladesh, Guyana, Spain, Malaysia, the Philippines and Myanmar. Here, I experienced different cultures and traditions. I learned a lot from my colleagues. This place will always be remembered.

My impression to college/ZJU

Some memories are worth remembering, such as my arrival to China, I was pleased and blissful to see highly qualified teachers and the greatly developed laboratories of the Zhejiang University. The experience was incredible, which increased my confidence and interest, and made me believe that “I am going to enjoy my Ph.D. studies”, which proved to be true.   

The most impressive thing

The most impressive thing about Chinese people is their hard work and dedication. They are sincere with their selves which is the main reason for China’s rapid development and being among the world’s top developed countries. 

My hobbies

My hobbies include; hiking, playing football, cricket and badminton, listening to music and singing.

My plan after graduation

After the completion of my Ph.D., I have a plan to pursue my research work in the field of mineral exploration. I am interested to explore different ore deposits including Cu-Au, rare earth elements (REE), platinum group elements (PGE’s) and precious elements. These elements/deposits are considered as strategic elements which can change the economy of the whole country. I see myself as a researcher, and I hope my work will be beneficial to the world’s economic geologists.

I am grateful to the government of China for providing opportunities to learn about different cultures and to develop numerous skills which will be helpful to carry out modern research with the help of advanced technologies.

Any words or good ideas to other students

To my colleagues and students I would like to say; set your goals, give your best and do not lose hope. Besides, it is equally important to take care of your health, respect people and try to contribute something good for the people with your acts and work.

My feeling in school

The environment is always refreshing. I am always happy to be in school and to meet my colleagues. The research discussion with colleagues is always fruitful and working in laboratories always increases my experience. I always feel positive energy at school.
