My study life

As a graduate student whose study is more research-oriented, I was initially puzzled as to how I had to figure things out on my own initiative. I put in significant amount of effort for independent study to reach the level of knowledge that is expected. I enjoyed all the classroom sessions which are very interactive. The Chinese language and survey courses I took were the most adventurous of all as I learnt entirely new topics that opened my mind to another aspect of life. My participation at the Marine Scholars study tour to Qingdao, and a Doctoral forum on experiencing China in Beijing, were wonderful experiences worthy of mention. Interacting with participating scholars across different Universities, and of different nationalities countries, improved my skills in project planning, team-work, problem-solving and effective communication. I’ve had quite a number of research publications and I’ve presented papers at conferences both within and outside China. Overall, my study life has been wonderful that I’ll recommend to any outstanding international student with an adventurous mind.

My achievement

Being a recipient of the excellent international student award in 2019 is a great achievement, considering the crop of brilliant minds at the College. However, my ultimate achievement here would be to bag a PhD degree.

My campus life

My campus life is a blend of academic and social adventure as I try to be at my best in my day-to-day activities. I must confess that I initially struggled to relate with people due to differences in culture and language accent. This required me to be clearer in expression and interact more with people, thereby improving my communication skills.

My impression to college/ZJU

Firstly, I must say that China is a vast country with very rich culture and values, which reflects in all her endeavors. My impression about Zhejiang University, and Ocean College in particular, is their high reputation to be at the fore-front in conducting top-level research, and the conducive environment for learning using state-of-the-art facilities.

The most impressive thing

The most impressive thing about the college is its location on the beautiful Zhoushan Island, the serene environment and its magnificent architectural designs.

My hobbies

My hobbies include playing football, ping pong and badminton. I am a member of the Ocean College football team and I participated in a number of competitions which include the 3-Good Cup at Hangzhou.

My plan after graduation

I plan to return back to my country and be a key player in the field of Ocean and Coastal Engineering.

Any words or good ideas to other student

My advice for other students is to always be ready to take any challenge that comes their way. They should strike a balance between their academic and social life. They should take their physical and mental health seriously because academic journey can be very tasking and demanding. Finally, they should remember that ‘when the going gets tough, the tough gets going’.

My feeling in school

Hmmm… I’m short of words! But I must say that I have a wholesome and wonderful experience studying here.
